From jerseys to suits.

December 23rd, 2009.

Being a little low on the updating world lately, I then decided to watch FIFA World Player Gala (or it's called something that sounds almost like that). Man, I know that was such a good move on my part.

Let me just states my points in points.

1) Seeing the footballers in suits always excite me. No particular reasons for that.

2) Hands down, Messi DESERVES to win the award. To quote the voice-over "Lionel Messi, the (something-something) and a GENIUS".

3) Love the introduction of the FIFA/FifPro World XI players. Where or when else can you see Casillas - Alves - Terry - Vidic - Evra - Iniesta - Xavi - Gerrard - Messi - Ronaldo - Torres all on the SAME side (and in suits, may I add to that) ?
It's too bad to see Kaka sitting alone on the big, comfy chair in front of the stage though.

4) As much as I hate his antics (and his hair junk), Ronaldo's 40-yards strike that won him the Puskas' Goal of the Year is indeed THE Goal of The Year (in my very humble opinion).
Mama was banking on one of the fancy goal by (I can't remember the name) but thankfully, Ronaldo didn't disappoint this time (as opposed to what he always did before).

5) Martha won again. For the second (or maybe third) time. That woman has grown to become a legend (though I don't really watch women football match. They creep me out so much). And Bridget Prinz was nominated for how many years in a row. And so does Christiane.

6) The FifPro World XI players are all from EPL (Pardon me, I'm still refusing to call it BPL) or La Liga. What happens to those from Serie A and Bundesliga. Or even Ligue 1?

7) You know while they were introducing the World XI players, they did give a little bit of descriptions. In between gawking at the screen and trying to listen carefully, here are some that I managed to catch. A little bit. Here and there.

Messi
: the ............. and a genius.
Alves: the swashbuckling (how I love this fancy word) and .......... .
Evra : the ever consistent ............... .
Torres : the calmness and cool .............. .
Xavi : ............ and the playmaker.
Iniesta: ............ brilliant.
Ronaldo : fast (or was it speedy) .......... terrorizing the defenders............ .

My poor brain wouldn't want to cooperate anymore after that.

8) Queen Rania looking every bit like a queen and talking about 1Goal (I still have no clear idea of what it is about exactly) and towards the very end of the gala, managed to mingle with the XI (and Kaka) on stage. Oh, how I envy you. I really do.

I made my points.

On the other hand, my own summary of the unexpected world of football.

  • Malaysia won the Gold medal in the SEA Games. (I'm just a tad surprised, that's all I'm saying)

  • Man U lost to Fulham (that was quite expected actually) and Liverpool also did not win over Portsmouth.

  • Mark Hughes has been sacked.

  • Man U vs AC Milan and Chelsea vs Inter in Champions League. Should be interesting enough.

And the most unexpected of all, I started to watch Bundesliga matches and ACTUALLY enjoying them.

Unkle with a 'k'

December 15th, 2009.

Another day and another confession.

I don't watch Korean stuffs. Okay, maybe I do. The Korean series where Daniel Henney was in it (he's the doctor, I only waited for his scenes. Haha.) and another that is a movie, with Dennis Oh. Sorry, I couldn't be bothered to google the titles. My Internet is a snail.

So, when I heard my friends oohh-ing and aahh-ing about some Korean movies and one of them is My Sassy Girl, I decided to YouTube it when I have nothing better to do after the finals. Lo and behold, can you tell how big my grin was when I found the Hollywood version of My Sassy Girl. This adaptation version may not be as good as the real one, but who am I to complain. I got to watch My Sassy Girl in English. Hah. Though I might be a few years too late.

All in all, I like the storyline - the Hollywood version, I mean. It's simple and easy, perfect for after-finals movie. Elisha Cuthbert is a good Jordan Roark, and that Swimfan guy - Jesse Bradford - is okay too I guess. I like him in Swimfan better, maybe because he was constantly in the water in that movie. Maybe. Hehe.

Anyway, my greatest finding is not this movie but this song in this movie! Man, I like it so much. I'm not a lyrics person, so when I like a song, usually it's not because of the lyrics. Maybe I should start paying attention to the lyrics more often after this.

Okay, end of movie review session.

(LOVELOVELOVE)

December 10th, 2009.

The need to update will never be able to beat the need to eat. In this particular case, the need to eat LOCAL, SCRUMPTIOUS, TRADITIONAL, ALL-MALAYSIAN FOOD. Yummi-ness to the core!

Anyway, I can't think of nothing much to say. In the span of about 10 days I set foot here, I've been to too many family weddings (LOVELOVELOVE),
met too many relatives (LOVELOVELOVE),
eat too much food (LOVELOVELOVE),
talk too many gossips (LOVELOVELOVE),
met my dear old, ancient ( Hah! you guys are my primary school friends, of course you're ancient! ;) ) best friends (LOVELOVELOVE),
shop too many handbags (well not yet, just marking the stores first. Haha),
all of which I've enjoyed so much.

Next (LOVELOVELOVE)?
Trips to the clinic to see my favourite doctor and to the dentist, for -of course- a dental check-up.

p/s: GG is on a month or so hiatus. Not looking forward to that. :(

Drafty windows no more, baby! oh yeah!

November 24th, 2009.

Finally, the repair guy came to check on my drafty windows when I have 3 more days left in this room. As Dhi said, at least they want you to have 3 comfortable last days in Auckland for this year.

So, in between spraying stuffs on the windows (yes, he just sprayed something and somehow, it works. The windows are not so drafty anymore, but there's no point since I started to sleep with the windows open now.)

The repair guy (who looks much like Don Eppes' father in Numb3rs) was friendly.

Actually, I don't really mind the draftiness now, since it's getting warmer at night. But it was really really horrible during the winter.

That's because you were on your own! Where's boyfriend?

Herm..he wasn't here all the time. I mean..he has his own place.

Well, he should've known better not to leave the lady alone during those cold winter nights. You tell him I said that, ok dear?

And I just nodded. And with his big jolly smile, he left.

Honestly, I was expecting something like "Put layers of sweaters" or "Get another heater" or "Seal the window sills with scotch tape", and definitely not "get your boyfriend to sleep with you at night, so you'll be warmer". Come to think of it, it's kinda sweet, don't you think so?
Oh when I say 'sleep', it means sleep. Alright? :)

Man, I feel bad for playing along, but actually, it feels good doing so. Haha.

p/s: No, there's no boy friend that came by to keep me warm on winter nights. Or any other nights, for that matter. Don't worry.

Brilliant discovery!

November 23rd, 2009.

Look at what I've found!

A Coding Cake!!!

As many times as you've read of my profession of love to all things cakes and cookies, I would not want to have this on a plate in front of me.

Picture is from here.

Tea Party 2.0

November 21st, 2009.

Other than waking up at 5.15am for Subuh then fall asleep again, then staying in bed from 8am to 8pm, I finally did something quite beneficial yesterday.

A mini 'tea party' at the No 14 courtyard co-hosted by Dhi, Sya, Izzah and yours truly.

So much for a tea party when the drink served was apple juice, but slices of carrot cake and strawberry cheesecake were there to the rescue.
